What happens if my clubs are too flat
Also, the dynamics of your swing will play a role here, as some golfers swing on a flatter plane than others. If you have been playing with your current set of clubs for a while, you have probably gotten used to how they feel and how they play.
If you think that your lie angle might be an issue, take a close look at your divot pattern. Or does it look like either the toe or heel is going into the grass first? Ultimately, if you are going to do anything about the lie angles of your clubs, you are going to want the help of a professional.
Many golf courses and driving range facilities have at least one club fitter on staff who can help evaluate your equipment and recommend adjustments.
The fitting pro will usually have you hit a number of shots while observing with the help of a launch monitor. If it turns out that your lie angles need to be changed, it may be possible to have your current irons bent into the right position. Be sure to ask questions if you work with a fitting pro to understand the process and determine the best course of action to adjust your clubs to the right position.
If you do make these changes, expect to go through a transition period before you get comfortable with how these new lie angles feel and perform. As a new golfer, it was challenging to keep up with some of the terms.

We all swing it differently at the end of the day, and so if the lie angle specification is not adjusted properly it could cause shots to travel some 10 yards offline from their intended target line even if the player made what felt like a great swing. We caught up with professional golfer and The Belfry's custom fit technician Neil Wain to learn more about the importance of lie angle Lie angle is defined as the angle between the shaft and the ground line when the club is measured in normal playing position with the centre of the sole touching the ground line.
There are only two scenarios that occur when your lie angle is not adjusted properly for your swing: the club is either too upright whereby the toe is not making contact with the ground at impact, or the club is too flat whereby the heel is not making contact with the ground at impact. If the lie angle is too upright then then the ball will be hit left of target.
If the lie angle is too flat then the ball will be hit right of target. It should be said that the ball will travel approximately four yards away from your intended target line for every degree your lie angle is either too upright or flat. Here at The Belfry, we place tape on the sole of the iron and then draw a Sharpie pen line onto the golf ball.
The correct lie angle is so, so important.
